Hello and welcome to a hastily-created blog to serve former followers of AoD and any other random rugby union fanatics as well.
Now that rugby season is upon us, it seemed intolerable not to have somewhere to share our pain, our hopes and our squabbles.
Please pile in BTL! There will no doubt be much tinkering with the site. Suggestions for improvements are welcome but may be discarded out of hand. We do not possess Sag-like wizardry.

Dammit, had I not been so stupid and read the question properly I would have gotten number 2, I thought it meant a horse called 1
Doh!
That is why I failed the brain surgery exams, never read the question carefully

Thaumo, when you or the DCI have time can you explain how a brand new poster signs up to post on here? Asking for a fiend.

Iks – They should just be able to fill out the boxes with an email address and a poster name, and off they go. The email address doesn’t even have to be real, and it’s visible only to admins.

“Also, I tried to register on the re-rebooted AOD, I haven’t received the confirmation email and the account doesn’t work … does it take a long time?!”
That’s the question that prompted me to ask Thaum, just to cross-check before I pass on your advice.

Nice cwizing. I think I would do quite well on a steeplechasing cwiz set between 1966 – 1979.

And stone me because I deserve it, but I can still produce that long-promised film cwis if you need a hook to hang a new thread on.

Iks – if you already have a WordPress account, and are logged into it, all you should need to do is to type a comment and hit Post. There’s no registration required.
If you don’t already have a WordPress account, aren’t logged into it, or wish to change your username, you can click the Change link below the comment box, and you’ll be prompted for user name and email:

That should say that if you aren’t already logged in, the form in the second screengrab should appear when you’ve clicked in the comment box.
And yes, a film cwiz would be a lovely hook! But if you want it all flashy-bangy with multiple choice buttons and scores and all, that may take me some time to put together. I think it can be done using the poll feature, but it’s a bit of a faff, and may take a bit of experimentation to work out. Gorbless the previous pope and admins.
I’ll send an email to the account you’ve logged in with , and you can reply with the cwiz if you like.

Ok with the email thaum, but please go ahead with the next thread you planned! I’ll need a week or two to stitch the film questions together. Just offering some ATL sustenance for the future in case it is needed.
We may be at cross-purposes with the WordPress account. I’m fine with mine, but someone completely new to AOD was trying to join. Happily wiser advisers than me have taken over now, so it should work out.

Iks – that’s great re the cwiz, thanks!
Re the new user, what I wrote should still apply. Basically they should just have to click in the comment box, and if they already have a WP account they’re logged in to, it should recognise that, and if not, it should ask for email and user name. There is no registration as such.

Long way behind on catchup …and I haven’t looked at the answers (honest)
1 – Who is buried at Aintree’s winning post? Red Rum (murder spelt backwards)
2 – Who trained 1? Donald “Ginger” McCain
3 – What are the three events in a three-day event? Dressage, Cross-Country, Show Jumping
4 – How many faults are awarded for knocking down a jump? Four
5 What is the letter of a dressage arena at which the horse and rider enter? Alternatively, what is the letter of a dressage arena at which the horse and rider stop to salute the judge? It is in the middle of the arena. (Easier guess, I reckon….) T?
6 What is a piaffe? Is it the high step that they get dressage horses to do?
7 What Russian breed of horse is commonly used in harness racing? Przewalski’s horse? (no… it’s not – and looks Polish anyway)
8 What rodeo event involves horse and rider riding as quickly as possible in a cloverleaf pattern around fixed objects?
9 Why is a quarter horse thus named? Quarter mile racing
10 Where was the world’s first steeplechase run? Buttevant to Churchtown, County Cork – north of the county – vast open rolling countryside. Not too far from here…a challenge between a Mr O’Callaghan and can’t recall the other gentleman.

Beadle,
When I think of Anime, the first thought that comes into my head is “What’d make Anime miles better is Mark Pougy” Pougatch, Ian “Geech” McGeechan and Clive “Sir Clive” Woodward rendered sort of Anime style” and, darn it, but ITV sport has come up trumps again.
Big fan of this sentence from the press release:
“Co-commentators include rugby figures with a wealth of experience, including Jamie Roberts, Ugo Monye, Shane Williams, Scott Hastings, Danielle Waterman, Ben Kay and Alan Quinlan.”
Can’t wait for the co-commentators without the the wealth of experience.

Bringing in experienced players does wonders for the local talent.
If he makes the first team Loots will be playing alongside Thretton Palamo.
23 of the 40 players in the SaberCats squad are American.
4 are from Uruguay as part of a deal with the URU to get their players into professional rugby.

Loots is an ex-RGC player. Turned out 0 times for the Dragons in the Pro14 and Amlin. A big loss for Cross Keys, mind.

Thretton Palamo and Osea Kolinisau are the incumbent centres.
It is a beastly midfield for sure.

Not going to get into the quality of the commentators themselves *, but that graphic is close to being a crime against humanity. Even St Jonny looks like a game show host!
* except noting that Maggie A is the best. More knowledgeable than Brian Moore, more articulate than RealEddie, more attractive than Castagneide
