While I’m no fan of the Iranian regime, I’m also no fan of the Iran-demonisation of the right-wingers in the US and elsewhere. So I’d like to be sure this isn’t part of the latter.

Sure, Craigs, I might be overly suspicious, but there’s something about it that smells of fake news. Quite possibly it is indeed that they’ve used google translate for something very genuine; dog knows there are plenty of Iranian prisoners who should be released, not least Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe (thanks in large part to our current *spit* PM).
I’d just like to see independent corroboration, which is of course somewhat difficult as Iran doesn’t let a lot of journos in for such purposes.
I used the word ‘regime’, and it’s getting to the point where the same word should be used for our government.
– Only country apart from Iran that has clerics in its government.
– Hereditary head of state with apparently no power to block assaults on democracy.
– Unelected upper chamber as well.
– No written constitution to be consulted in matters of national emergency; constitution made up by the sitting government in effect.
– Suspension of Parliament at time of national crisis.
– etc

I found this issue through talking to a few people rather than looking at the petition. And I should have read the blurb before posting tbh.
The graun covered this story a while back:

Wales team named in about an hour. Expect a close to first choice XV, but with Patchell, Dee and a couple of others given a start.

Fatty will therefore either have to defy parliament and refuse to request a Brexit extension, or go grovelling to Brussels and then face attack from the right flank by the Farage mob.
They have done him up like a kipper.

Largely first choice but with a few who need a start. Almost identical to the way they picked the team in the corresponding fixture 4 years ago.

Rees Mogg has compared that doctor the government hired to investigate possible medicine shortages after Brexit to Dr Wakefield – the anti vaxx hoaxer, for daring to conclude that there might indeed be supply issues.
It would not surprise me if Rees Mogg’s hedge fund was actually speculating on medicine shortages.
The man is an odious c*nt of the highest possible level.

So after yesterday being a shit day and having to send Craigs and Iks to Devil’s Island, today was sooo much better. I even got given cake! And told the reason was because they “felt I was underappreciated!”
So Iks can come back. I’ll leave Craigs though…….

Rees Mogg does not have a hedge fund
He has a regulated mutual fund
The vast majority of its holdings are in shares of companies in emerging markets
It is not allowed to short stock
It is not allowed to use options or other derivatives for speculative purposes
I do not disagree on any of your other points though 😀

Craigs – thanks for the Guardian article; what a ridiculous thing to happen to anyone.
Spaffer Johnson has gone to the People’s Republic of Yorkshire, of all places, and made a speech where he starts off talking about That London. And people say he’s clever?

A certain image is suggested by a politician closing parliament down and then speaking in front of the serried ranks of the cops. Fortunately, Johnson spaffed it.
