Looking forward to the RWC. I’ve got a wall chart and everything.

My wife bought a Sunday Times the other day and there is was, huge pics of Super Maro and AWJ.

    Some stats from it

Biggest world cup win Australia 142 – 0 Namibia (also most tries in a game, Aus – 22)
Most points in a match Japan 17 – 145 New Zealand

Most world cup tries – this is tied, guess who they are?
No peaking on Google now, the same players share the “most tries in a tournament” too

Nah. Lomu and Habana. Has to be. Thought about wee Shane but Wales always get knocked out early so can’t be. Those two went deepest into tournaments and were prolific.

I don’t think there’s be any scores like that this time. Even the minnows seem to be getting to a standard where they wont get 100 points put on them. Cant see any upsets mind (unless we can call Japan beating Scotland and Ireland an upset?)

    Upsets?

I am going for Fiji beating Wales, USA beating France and Japan beating either Ireland or Scotland would be epic.

Namibia could push a pretty naff Canadian side too.

Nah, I mean which player scored the most tries in one RWC game

The Japan Scotland game could indeed be epic, both teams are capable of scoring or conceding 40 points or more, Japan at home with a seven day turnaround from their previous game, Scotland with three days recovery. Hot and humid conditions, only three places between the teams in the rankings.

I’d be disappointed to lose, but not because I don’t think Japan are worthy, they can play terrific rugby, I’d be disappointed because it will almost certainly mean we are out of the world cup

I happen to know that one too, pro, it on my wallchart.

I’ll leave it to someone else, but I will say it’s an appropriate name

Most points in an RWC game is Gav Hastings vs Ivory Coast, I think. Not sure if that holds for tries, too. He certainly dotted down a few in that game.

Actually it’ll be from one of those 100 odd point wins so likely a Kiwi or an Ozzy.

    @Chek

It doesn’t hold for tries. Hastings got 4 in that game.

In the same tournament someone bagged 6.

I can’t look up anything as Wikipedia is blocked here.

Once you start with suspending parliaments and kicking people out your party the next step is blocking websites and locking up teachers and journalists.

  39. The ‘nation’ is New Zealand. No-one born there scored a point in the ’95 Final. Mertens was born in Durban. Useless bastards. In fact in the 3rd place playoff in ’99 Merts scored all their points so you had to wait for a post-Staaldraad shattered Bok side before a true Kiwi-born player scored a point against the Boks in the World Cup. Glory daze.
