Week One has provided some excellent rugby, dodgy refereeing and unfortunate injuries.
I think we can all unite around Uruguay as WC champions.
Other competitions are also starting up, so cancel all engagements and be prepared to spend your entire weekend and parts of the midweek glued to the screen. Hopefully not literally.
For those of you who lack rugby preparation skills, let me remind you to order in adequate supplies of booze, fags and possibly food.

Fuckinell, Ticht, you’re ancient!
(I’m just behind you.) (So to speak.)

Ulster think they have a try, but I doubt it.

I’m still not used to being ancient, I was always the youngest at whatever I did, it’s difficult to shift that
Oh Faddes jusr made and scored another

Christ, if Ticht’s ancient, then I must be Methuselah (being a whole 2 years older).

That is an awful decision, truly awful.

It’s no try on the grounding, but the ref has awarded a penalty try for Lyttle being pushed off the ball. I think that’s a dodgy decision; it didn’t look like anything to me. And it’s a second yellow for the same player, so he’s off.
Even Stevie Ferris thinks it’s harsh.

Billy Burns MotM over Lyttle? I begin to wonder about Ferris’relationship with Burns.

Ospreys looked like they had scored at the death, but there was a forward pass leading up to it.
That penalty try was bollocks.
Final score: 38-14.

@Thaum – “I know, he’s awful. I personally think Burns is rubbish, but he makes him sound like the second coming of Ronan O’Gara.”
Surely the second coming of David Humphreys?
LikeLike
Ha, maybe. But it’s all about the clever cross-field kicks (and fair enough, Burns managed two today), and game management. I don’t think Burns has the latter at all: that’s Cooney.
LikeLike
Thinking about it it could well be that Ferris thinks he’s as good as O’Gara, but not as good as Humphreys.
Surprised Cooney isn’t in Japan.

Out of the two sides it certainly shouldn’t be the O’s who have lost their scrum half to the World Cup.

Evening. Pleasing performance from Ulster. Just back from the game. It rained, of course, but mild rain as it’s September.
Burns getting motm was staggering.
Our new lads looked good.

CMW – snort, yep. And I was also astonished that Cooney wasn’t chosen as Ireland’s back-up scrum-half, but there you go. Ulster will benefit from having him. Sounds likely that we will lose Jordi Murphy to the WC though.
Larry – I’m not sure about that new Kiwi full-back. Made some seriously bad handling and judgement errors that you wouldn’t expect from a Kiwi, but then again he did have a few moments of brilliance.

Thaum, he was brilliant for the Highlanders where he usually played 13/wing

Erm, craigs- that aint Annalise’s Hubby. You have somewhat misinterpreted that. He’s Martyr Logarius because he martyred himself to keep the Vileblood sealed away for eternity. Alfred knows. He’s the leader of Alfred’s order (the Executioners), and Alfred has pledged to avenge him but can’t reach Cainhurst.
I mean the Sealed Cainhurst invite from her room. Not the base one. It’s on the desk to the right of her.
It’s a wicked area though. The crying ghosts give me the shivers. And beating the shit out of the sad floppy gargoyles never gets old.
Alfred should be on the path to the woods from Cathedral Ward.

Twitter is a raging cesspit, but occasionally educational. Some doofus asked the internet to name a woman more badass than Kylie Jenner and some dude replied Phoolan Devi.
I’d never heard of her, but I’m now reading everything I can find. Fascinating- horrible, but amazing story.

When Tonga pass it into midfield you get to see why the 9 kicks so much. Good carry from him in the lead up to their try 28-7.

Argentina don’t seem to play with enough depth at centre. The centres are quite good and have decent footwork but are often coming from a standing start.

Then Argentina manage to kick the ball over the Tonga try-line, direct from the kick off. All the way back for a scrum.

Tonga will rue the mistakes in midfield that set up two Argentina tries in the first half. They’ve been pretty good since then even if Argentina did have that long period in their 22 (and maybe should have taken three points at least once).
