Covid: ALL YOUR FIXTURES ARE BELONG TO US

Saner parts of the world, such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa (and I never thought I’d write that) are managing to go ahead with their matches, but in the Pro-14, non-cancelled matches scheduled for today are rarer than gracious election concessions by Donald Trump.

There are a couple of not-cancelled Top 14 matches that don’t appear to be available for your viewing pleasure in the UK, and the Sunday and Monday (boo, hiss) Pro-14 matches are so far still on. The English Premiership appears to be having a wee rest.

Maybe it’s just a plot to make us all savour the prospect of Friday’s Ireland v Wales supershowdown. Supposing it doesn’t get cancelled.

Far better by embra from what I’ve seen between shit stream and fog. Still time to embra it though

Think Glasgow are already in bed, Thaum. This is going to be a difficult season.

I expect this will only be a temporary set-back for Glasgow.

Number six! Solo effort by Faddes. Thought he’d over-cooked it, but worked out.

Not seen Glasgow this bad for years. Going to be a real struggle for them this season.

Embra won Chimpie! You also have a semblance of a team. I reckon Embra’s squad is deeper than Glasgow’s now (much to the consternation of some Glasgow FB patrons – all the fault of the SRU, don’tyaknow). We have a new coach who’s trying to change the way we play, but with a lesser squad and with all the restrictions around covid. We still have good players (Price has rediscovered his mojo, Horne the Junior, Zander has improved, Jones has been good at fullback), but not quite the star quality we had with Finn and Hoggy (and Jonny).

    How could you tell?

More seriously I thought we did well, we butchered a couple of chances, we probably left three tries out there but I never felt we were in any danger of losing that. Miller and Crosbie were immense, Bradbury stepped up his carrying in the second half, the scrum was solid when Gamble got his first cap

Next week is a free hit, that was a much needed win that gets our season up and running.

I’m delighted we won BB. But still an inability to turn pressure into points. No penetration in attack. Poor decisioning.

Will struggle against the better teams still. Leinster next week. Eek.

Thaum, on your US covid statistics, yes indeed . First hand reports from people I know that work in care homes indicate that cases and deaths in those places alone were far far higher* than actually made the official statistics, and of course, testing is not an option for many, if not most, considering even for the cheapo /free tests you need to be referred by a general practitioner or other primary care provider, which in itself may cost hundreds of dollars for a visit.
    * One case recently I was told about , 23 out of 36 clients and 8 out of eleven staff had tested positive two weeks ago at a facility in a town that is still officially listed as having 3 cases in total since the beginning of the whole malarkey.

“The Fosun-BioNTech collaboration forms part of BioNTech’s global development program, with the ultimate aim of securing global supply of a vaccine immediately upon regulatory approval. During the currently ongoing clinical development stage, BioNTech provides the clinical supply of the vaccine, while Fosun draws on its sizeable experience in the domestic Chinese market to take charge of clinical trial design and execution, regulatory approval and commercializing the vaccine in China. If the vaccine receives marketing authorization in China, Fosun Pharma will exclusively commercialize it in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau Special Administration Region and Taiwan Region.”

SBT – really, you have to be referred by a GP for a reasonably-priced test? Boggles the mind!

Last December, I had confirmation that I’d broken my foot in the US while I was uninsured – xrays showed an old break. Couldn’t afford to get any treatment (because also unemployed, hence the lack of insurance!). I know the silly amounts that are charged for the most basic things.
