Preview: Autumn Nations Cup, Round Four

The briefest of all possible previews.

Georgia v Fiji

Fiji are a very good side, but have not played a test match due to their Covid problems. Georgia were much improved last week. Georgia by 5.

Ireland v Scotland

Both sides looking rather pedestrian at the moment. With the inexplicable void where Hamish McFuckface should be, as well as the return of Sexton and Ireland’s home advantage (and despite the dropping of McCloskey), Ireland by 10.

Wales v Italy

Wales by 25. You know why.

England v France

With France putting out a C side, there is not much doubt: England by 15. Although I suspect France will throw some surprises England’s way.

What could possibly go wrong for Edinburgh?

Is the Kingspan in Kingspan Stadium related to these wankers

Yes. Actually an Irish company – based in Cavan

Cavan being an Ulster county, but not in Northern Ireland, of course….

I still do not recognise the K******* Stadium. Nor the A****, which is of course Lansdowne Road.

no matter if you get cleaned out and drop it?

    @ticht

My understanding of the ‘new’ ruck interpretation is that jackal only needs to get hands on ball – doesn’t need to “survive” the clear out…..

Topical, Trisk, as Watson just kifted the ball and didn’t get the reward.

As per, it depends on the ref

“Pottinger was one of the nine district electoral areas (DEA) in Belfast, … and contained the wards of Ballymacarrett, Bloomfield, Orangefield, Ravenhill, The Mount, and Woodstock.”

I think I’m most disappointed that the stadium wasn’t built in Ballymacarrett, but Woodstock or Orangefield would have been fun/alarming in their own ways too.

I guess the main challenge for Thaum and co is not to confuse The Kingspan Stadium with Kingspan Breffni Park.

Looks as though Edinburgh really don’t know how to attack. Doesn’t help with Henry as scrum half.

We had a work quiz the other day (which my team won – yay!). One of the questions was a sequence of numbers, and the answer was the next square of a prime number.

A good quiz question would be to present a rugby score, and the possible scores than could have led to it. For example – an easy one – the score now is 0-8: the 8 can only be through an unconverted try and and a penalty. But take the number higher, and it’s more difficult.

That’s the GAA ground in Cavan. Not sure I can think of another GAA stadium that has a sponsor….

    …goes away ….

There are a couple of others…..none sponsored by companies connected with a disaster like Grenfell (afaik)

I was aware of BT Murrayfield but not aware of the BA / Twickenham link….

Stadium sponsorship seems to be 50/50 – sometimes it catches – tends to work if its a new stadium (eg the Emirates) not an existing one

As long as I remember we’ve had things like this happening. The PM in Brussels being seen to have demands and standing up to the ungrateful continentals. It always ends in a “historic agreement”.

The only thing missing is footage of politicians and their entourages running breathlessly from meeting room to meeting room desperately trying to meet the deadline. That’s probably due to covid but it would be there if they could.

Lyon score 3 tries in less than 20 minutes and Baby Glos look down and out, but they’ve come back and scored a lovely try from a long throw in.
Lovely and sunny in Lyon too. Lucky buggers (as I look out at the pissing down rain).

And Basteraud is over for number 4 for Lyon!
