Preview: Autumn Nations Cup, Round Four

The briefest of all possible previews.

Georgia v Fiji

Fiji are a very good side, but have not played a test match due to their Covid problems. Georgia were much improved last week. Georgia by 5.

Ireland v Scotland

Both sides looking rather pedestrian at the moment. With the inexplicable void where Hamish McFuckface should be, as well as the return of Sexton and Ireland’s home advantage (and despite the dropping of McCloskey), Ireland by 10.

Wales v Italy

Wales by 25. You know why.

England v France

With France putting out a C side, there is not much doubt: England by 15. Although I suspect France will throw some surprises England’s way.

    I knew I made a mistake, I’ve just noticed I’m wearing a green jumper

I’m wearing a green jumper too. I’m inclined to blame it for what we’re about to see.

I’m shocked Ticht! Unless it’s South African green and not Irish green.

I chose to wear my Irish green one over my South African green one because of the exchange rate/politics/crime rate in the jumper drawer etc.

A South African green one in your jumper drawer is a crime indeed.

Italy 23 was done up like a kipper there, he bit in too early, nice execution from Faletau

Some nice tries in the end from Wales and a satisfactory final scoreline though it was looking very concerning at one point. Ultimately the Italians made the mistake of bringing calamari to a wet squid fight and got just what you’d expect from doing so.

Just finished the game on a delay on Czech TV.

Everything CMW said. Plenty of good tries, some good running as well.

Plus, Faletau’s footwork is still amazing. Lovely to see. Thought both sets of half-backs did well. Sheedy wears his socks round his ankles, which I like but also think is the sign of a skillul but flaky outside half (eg Brandon Thomson, JL du Preez). However, he’s a very calm player. Am a fan.

And Mayer’s rag-dolling of Sheedy and bumping off of Lloyd reminded me of a Wales-Italy game a few years ago in which Sergio Parisse monstered Leigh Halfpenny every time they met on the field.
