Being short of time as I’m travelling tomorrow, I have shamelessly stolen Deebee7‘s prognostications.
But first, I’m sure we can all rejoice that Stuart McCloskey has kept his starting place on the Ireland team with Aki relegated to the bench.
Your results for the weekend:
Tonga v Uruguay: Tonga by 14 – Tonga are enjoying playing against Spanish speaking sides, and will dish the pain once again!
Italy v South Africa: South Africa by 4 – Boks have had two narrow losses and will look to get their tour on the board, with four straight losses for the two sides so far. Bench to haul them over the line.
Wales v Georgia: Wales by 19 – good win for Wales last week and they’ll look to build on that (and cement their place in the 6N at Georgia’s expense).
Romania v Samoa: Samoa by 6 – just because I don’t have a clue, but Samoa seem to better at the moment.
Scotland v Argentina: Argentina by 3 – Did Scotland blow a gasket against the Kiwis last week? Argentina have some good scalps this year and will look to take a Scottish one on their own turf.
England v New Zealand: New Zealand by 9 – don’t think it’ll be a shellacking, but the Kiwis are cruising this November tour after a dodgy start against Japan.
Ireland v Australia: Ireland by 8 Aussies are one from three, but all their matches have been single point affairs so far. Ireland will put a bit of distance on the scoreboard, but not that much.
France v Japan: France by 24 Japan won’t be as bad as they were against England, but they also don’t have the ability to step up and close the gap that much either. France for win 13 on the trot and getting within touching distance of some serious records.

There’s never a good reason to lift the legs in the tackle.

If I were McFarland, I’d make Doak watch videos of the famous O’Driscoll spear tackle and the rehab every day for a week. Obviously it wasn’t as bad as that, but the principle remains the same.

I would also immediately sub him as soon as his card’s up.

‘Nother Ulster try. Cooney on, but Doak switched to 10. The youngster off, apparently.

Cooney? No, not Cooney unless he’s grown a lot of hair very quickly. Not sure who it is.

It was closer than I thought it would be in terms of score, but never in terms of who was going to win.

Well, I was disappointed in many aspects of Ulster’s game, and thought it was not as close as it should have been!

On another note, I only learned this week that Kevin Sinfield is Leicester Tiger’s defence coach.
He’s just run 7 ultra marathons (40 miles) in 7 days to raise money for MND research.
He started at Murrayfield and ended at Old Trafford for the League World Cup final.
It’s all about the love for his mate Rob Burrows, but it started at Murrayfield because of Doddie Weir.
I don’t know what to say about Sinfield, nothing would be enough

Jake Flannery – moved up from Munster this season.

There were a couple of other Doddie links in the runs as well. The first stop was Melrose, and they also visited Newcastle Falcons ground.

That pricked up my ears, is he any relation to Jerry?
BB, it was such a monumental effort, I have so much admiration and respect for Sinfield.
Not to mention Rob and Doddie and Stephen Darby too

Sinfield is a great lad, Waterhead ARLFC legend and all that. What he has done reflects something really special in sport that we risk losing as we try and make things bigger and more lucrative. You’ll remember my mate who died suddenly a few years back. He used to bump into Kev in the Co-op and have a chat with him. And in the absence of Oldham being in the Super League he became an Huddersfield fan. Last night his wife posted this on Facebook (Luke Robinson played for Huddersfield):
We lost this in the football world, very important we keep hold of it in other sports.

No relation (AFAIK) – and talking of Munster 10s – Carbery starts tomorrow – Crowley on the bench. No spot for Healy who played (well) at PuC vs SA.
But word is Carbery needs to tear it up to night…. there’s a bit of jostling now for the positions.
Carbery has been unlucky with injury but not really played well in long, long time. Crowley played Heino away vs Castres, Emerging Ireland in SA and now full international vs Fiji and Oz. Healy started well (remember the 50m pen vs Llanelli – but hasn’t really done brilliantly since (albeit in a misfiring team)

Just learned of the demise of former Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire Simon Townley https://www.burnleyexpress.net/news/people/tributes-to-former-high-sheriff-and-lord-lieutenant-of-lancashire-sir-simon-towneley-who-has-died-at-the-age-of-100-3919738
My very Cowdenbeathian Great Auntie Mary was nanny to his kids years ago. My Mum used to go up to their stately home near Burnley to visit her Auntie and rather charmingly was expected to perform domestic chores while she was there.
