Getting back to Leinster’s decision to field a second string side, does it make sense for half of the teams in the URC to go into the knockouts? Maybe having QFs is a step too far, given the needs for the Heinie as well. Only Munster of the 5th to 8th placed sides won (finishing 5th and knocking out the 4th placed side) so maybe keep it to top four only? Leinster currently have the depth to be able to field weaker sides at stages, but not many others do, if they want a top 4 finish.

Morning all, decent weekend rugby. Altho both favoured teams lost in the Prem, the best two sides progress to the final. Better news in the NRL, where the Canberra Raiders are fit and firing, getting their 5th win on the trot, defeating the Paramatta Eels. No place in the side again for Semi Valamei, a former Fijian Union player, who was recruited to league when he was 19. 24 now, and looking less and less likely to break into the first grade, wouldn’t be surprised if he turned up in Europe sometime soon. Keep an eye out, he is a unit.
On a flying visit to UK for godsons wedding. Once again waved at Trisk from Dublin airport, where I spent several hours after fog and delays led to a missed connection. Happy to report that it may be my favourite international airport, due to the discovery of a rooftop deck in one of the bars inside the terminal. Got to be one of the only major international airports that you can have a pint of Guinness and a smoke while waiting for your plane, and yes, I did. been a looong time since I had a couple of pints at 8 o’clock in the morning.
Refit, whats the dodgy crypto stuff with Brave? Is it an unsafe site ??

SBT, the last time I had an 8am pint was in Frankfurt airport on my way back to SA. Was actually closer to 9am. A bunch of us had been in Bilbao and San Sebastian working for the Basque government and were heading back to our respective countries via Frankfurt. Problem is, we’d been partying in Bilbao until 4am, back to the hotel, packed, checked out, got a couple of taxis to the airport, managed to all board the flight to Frankfurt without being arrested and then hit a restaurant serving bagels, bratwurst and beer for breakfast. Most of the rest of the guys were connecting quickly to other European cities, but I had a six hour layover to Joburg, and had to stay awake until I boarded or risk sleeping through the process. Alternating between beer, red wine and coffee just about got me over the line, but the hangover when I woke up in the middle of the night was immense. Not recommended for children over 40!

Jofra Archer out for the summer. No Ashes. Freddie, Jimmy and Broady all nursing niggles with exactly a month until the first Ashes Test. I guess we’ll be seeing Jack Leach steaming in to deliver the first ball of the series?

Hi Tim. It’s not unsafe, but if I remember correctly they have a crypto-mining backend and used some of your browser process to do the mining. I just steer clear of all crypto stuff.

I wonder if Trisk has sobered up yet
.
I have – although not for the reasons you’d imagine. I missed the game as I was out in Cork on my biannual meet up with old school pals, and couldn’t manage the logistics
Albeit a weaker Leinster team – still managed to field 13 internationals – including 2 Lions. Munster had 4 missing due to the previous week’s HIAs.
Key stuff was Leinster had 4 line outs with their throw in. … they love a line-out…. Sheahan isn’t the top try scorer for nothing. Munster robbed them of that option.
Credit to what Rowntree and team have done. 1st year into a rebuild and reaching a final and beating Leinster in a significant game for the first time in ages

A request from the colonies: Who or what are the Nat-C part of the Tories that I keep reading about on the Graun? How many factions are there in the party?
I read the Marina Hyde article the other day about how the Tories are slowly sub-dividing into single opinion voices shouting into the ether, but I think she missed a glorious opportunity by not comparing them to an amoeba: constantly dividing, but with neither the whit nor organisation of an amoeba.

Clever Munster, Trisk! What is it that Munster like to use as a platform for scoring? Asking for a friend in Cape Town.

Best to ignore. It seems to be elements of the parliamentary party trying to position themselves for the inevitable leadership campaigns after they lose the next election. It’s a message that probably appeals to certain party members but of no significant interest wider than this.

The Times had to delete a Stephen Jones article about Sevens, due to it being completely made up

I’m loathed to comment on him, he is irrelevant and knows nothing about the game, but he spent so long viciously attacking all thing Scottish in rugby that I can’t help but feel a bit of schadenfreude when he reveals his ineptitude so well.

Thanks for the feedback on the NatCons. Scary as fuck that a ruling party in the UK would even entertain having people like that in its ranks.

Ticht – Stephen Jones not only knows very little about rugby, but he has it in for every side except England. Strange for a Welshman. He’s done it to the Boks, you say Scotland, the article says Ireland, I’m pretty sure Aussies and Kiwis will have the same gripe. Basically, he’s a bit of a clickbait tosser masquerading as a rugby writer.

Moana Pasifika are drawing the last 25 minutes 7-7! Pity they coughed up 34 points before that.
