Je m’en fucking fous

Thanks to Refitman for the link!

“We want to take the fans on a journey with us over the next few months,” talonneur George a dit à BBC Sport.

“It was Monday morning, I was on the physio bed, and he came over and asked if I’d like to captain the team,” said Lake. Qu’est-ce qu’on peut fucking dire?

Meanwhile, chez les écossais, entraîneur Toonie a perdu le fucking plot en décrivant “Zander Fagerson’s availability for the opening World Cup game against South Africa as ‘a huge boost’.” Pour ce weekend, la France a choisi un équipe beaucoup plus fort que le weekend passé, et alors je pense que l’Écosse sera fucking smashed.

*C’est fucking Camus. On est très fucking culturé ici.

Well that’s us done now. Two quick tries at the start of the second half. France just moved up a gear or two. Or three.

This is just so much faster than the dire Wales / England match. If I hadn’t spent yesterday catching up with the second Bledesloe yesterday which was even faster and more accurate then I would have some hope for a northern hemisphere WC.
Blow me if the Scot’s have just drawn level. Really silly game now if very exciting

Harsh way to go could hve been a penalty for contact in the air ?
Either way, what a game , well played Scotland and France. and Scotland.

Good game that. I wouldn’t put it past Scotland to get out of the group of death. They look so good with ball in hand and their defence has really come on.

Thaum, back to Farrell. Clear explanation of the last one here.
    https://www.sportsjoe.ie/rugby/owen-farrell-ban-six-nations-280417
basically we all know that was a fix, so he got six weeks, mitigated to four for being England fly half, plus another one off for the tackle course.
So, minimum of 6 weeks /games surely and yes, it would be a travesty if he didn’t get ten. Will be interesting to see. Also, is it World Rugby and not the RFU disciplinary panel this time ?

Yes Dab, would also love them to, they play a brand of rugby England fans can only dream of. I do wonder if England may be at a jumping off point tho, there was some signs of attacking shape there in places, and I think the pack is near to picking itself the main issue is Billy V who I don’t think should be there. Wouldn’t mind a Willis Curry Earl back row with Lawes and Itoje paired.
Faz really should be gone, we will see how squirmy the disciplinary panel can be but Borthwick must see that if he does that in a knockout game it’s all over. He did look decent today, but at one poit there was a yawning gap opened up he went thru it and then knew he didn’t have the pace so slowed up and passed inside. Either Ford or Smith would have pinned their ears back and made it to the line. Shame, as he does have a lovely pass on him when the occasion arises but the writing has been on the wall for several years. The backs could click under a bit of time with Ford and Smith, I still have doubts about the defensive positioning of Arundell Steward and Malins, only one out of the three at best please. And I don’t mind which one, Watson is a better fullback than Daly or any of the others.
Oh, and well played Scotland again, Dempsey held his hand up today, props may be an issue. Wonder if VPV has a Scottish granny ?Ruskin sounds a bit tartan .

    Watched both games late yesterday.
What to say about Wales vs England? It’s pretty sad to see two major rugby nations playing so poorly. It may have been Wales reserves but still, how can professionnal players lack so many of the basic skills, the first of them all being able to catch and pass a ball? And don’t start me on the set pieces. Abysmal.
As for England, the vision of the three stooges sat on their stool on the sideline was just perfect to summarize their sheer stupidity. It didn’t start badly for England and some moves were promising. But they simply do not have the personel. Best example was when Merchant ran behind the Welsh when they scored their 2nd try, and he kept losing ground! Lots of dead wood and no bright bolter in sight.
Both teams will need to be lucky if they are to reach the QF.

On the other hand Scotland and France were brilliant, the game was played at a great tempo and constantly interesting. Too bad it didn’t end in a draw.
Still some rust (and lack of fitness) chez les Bleus but they will be OK in three weeks. Hope Dupont doesn’t get injured as he’s the key to their success. How good was he again yesterday, both in attack and defence!
Scotland are really purring and I wouldn’t be so happy to meet them were I South-African or Irish. Finn on his best day is the best FH in the world and the way he launches his backs is simply wonderful. But the pack is great too, and quite mobile. The scrum might suffer though, without Fagerson. Sets up very intriguing group games vs SA and Ireland.

A bit harsh on Genge there Flair, as his card was a team penalty. The other two tho, good grief. They both have form for the same thing, I was surprised that Steward didn’t see red too as he clearly looked at the player in the air and made a decision to wrap both arms around his legs when he was two feet off the ground. There was no mitigation, if he overran the ball and accidentally knocked the players legs away, that might be seen differently, but it was a conscious effort to tackle the player around the legs. He could well see a mid term ban as well if the disciplinary panel get involved.
Finn was in full le Genie mode yesterday and a delight to watch. Kinghorn is just getting better and better too, if they could find a way to shoehorn Cam Redpath in there as well, look out anyone.

You’re right SBT, Genge was rather good. But then he collapsed a scrum although he must have been aware his team were on a last warning. Hopefully his team mates had told him. But yes , the scrum being a bit of a lottery, I was a bit harsh on him. It’s just that it is so rare to have three players sinbinned at the same time, that image was quite strong but I shouldn’t have painted him with the same brush as the two others.

SBT, Redpath is up against it – actually I was about to write why, but I’ll save it for an atl just before the World Cup, after the squad is announced – Thaum I think a Scotland atl would be better than an Edinburgh one, so I’ll put my efforts into that

As I say I’ll write it up once the squad is clipped to 33 and you can publish as and when.

Flair, that was a good game last night, really enjoyable, I thought we might have enough momentum to take the spoils in the last quarter, but it wasn’t to be.

  33. Missed all of the games this weekend, due to Mrs Deebee forcing me to have a social life, to my horror. I must admit from the comments on here that I’m starting to get very nervous about our match against Scotland next month. For some reason, the Boks have started very slowly this year, only building up a head of steam after 20 minutes or so – against the All Blacks it was game over by then, and I’d hate to see us give Scotland a 15 point start. Ditto for Ireland.

I wonder how the group will pan out – it’s conceivable that each of Scotland, Ireland and the Boks will win one and lose one against each other, so down to who puts the most pain on the other two in the group? Will the Ireland-Scotland match be a straight shootout for a QF spot? That could be tasty!

  35. Just casting my eye over the fixtures and wondering where the first major shock will come from. Will it be Australia-Georgia? Or Wales-Fiji? Or maybe New Zealand-Namibia?

The matches between SA, Scotland and Ireland won’t be shocks whoever wins, neither will England vs Argentina, so hoping one of Fiji, Tonga or Georgia can ‘do a Japan’ and cause some mayhem.

I don’t agree with downgrading Faz’s red card on the evidence I’ve seen, but an awful lot of shit has been thrown at Farrell (not on here) since Saturday by grown adults who should know better. The panel have had time to review all of the footage, not just the moment where the impact is made, and their decision, right or wrong, is a reminder that popular narratives about who or what a player is, are not the full story.

Farrell’s red card rescinded is a sour joke. Now, don’t anyone complain about commotion all the way down to the lowest level, it is OK to shoulder charge a player in the head. The world turns on the pegs of irony and Farrell being allowed to play in the RWC is the proof there is no such a thing as karma. It’s good to know.
