  1. Ticht, obviously Scotland for the pot if we don’t win it, I was just thinking realistically, rather than romantically.

Well, here we go on our journey towards the knockout rounds which will ultimately end in failure. TBH I’d almost forgotten we were at this World Cup as I didn’t see the first game and we haven’t played since.

@sbt – line-out was a mess early on. Ryan needs to take some responsibility there – he looked stunned initially. Got better when decision was taken to go to O’Mahony at #1

Should have been a killer. I think SA’s possession game meant they didn’t kick for field position as much – so a lot of the line outs lost were attacking rather than defensive.

Yellow and under review. Think that might be upgraded.

That’s the bonus try before half-time! Not perfect, but it will do for now.

  18. Job done. Not always convincing, but the bonus point is in the bag, now Scotland can open the taps and put themselves back in the race. Will 15 points get them across the line?

Think we need to beat Ireland (aye, right) and stop them getting any sort of bonus point (aye, right again), so, no. 15 points won’t be enough.

  20. Oh, I think they’ve got that one wrong. Amazed that’s stayed a yellow.

  21. What’s the permutations for this group? If sides end on the same number of points, is it decided on overall points difference or the head to head result? Or something else?

Eh????? The yellow remains a yellow? What the actual?

Try number 5! Scruffy but I’ll take it. McDuhan brushing off Tongans!

    Like

  26. Definitely knocked on at the lineout, but the fact that the Tongan had to pickpocket Finn Russell to get near the ball seems to have eluded the ref. And then McDuhan creates something out of nothing!

Would love to see Finn absolutely turn it on in a really big game, say the Irish, for example. Is there a scenario where Scotland and Ireland go thru ?

  32. SBT, if the Boks don’t get a bonus point win against Tonga, they could go home. Getting a bonus point last night was absolutely key.

Better. Hopefully that should relax us a bit and we can get some more points in the rest of this game.

You are in big trouble, mister. You should take the Bushmills distillery tour, where they explain why Irish whiskey is vastly superior.

  39. Thauma, mate of mine’s dad was a whisky fanatic and went on the Bushmills tour as a gift from his daughter. He clearly was very knowledgeable and they were loving having him asking questions and listening intently. When he was sipping away at the end of the tour, he was asked what he thought, and he said – with no malice intended – “really nice, but you just don’t make it like the Scots do.” My mate got her dad out quite quickly!

As a footnote, she was back there last week with her husband (my best mate) and they sent pics of themselves having a quiet giggle about her late dad’s visit.

Nice ending. Well played Scotland. Tonga played their part too. Great rugby to watch. Also pretty well referreed, sometimes feel that DIxon can break a game up imposing himself, he is getting better tho. Like the way he plays scrums out if the ball is playable.

  42. As an addendum to the footnote, Mrs Deebee prefers Irish to Scotch, but I fear this isn’t getting me off the hook.

Fun fact: did you now that the ” bunker” where the refs upgrade ( or not, as tonight) the YC to a RC is located under the Roland-Garros tennis stadium regardless of where the games actually take place?
