Last night I was ‘forced’ (Mothership usage of term, meaning doing it quite voluntarily) to watch a Peter Green tribute show led by Mick Fleetwood.
There is a star-studded cast of musicians, mostly playing very well, but they insist on playing twelve-bar blues, which must be the most rigid and repetitive form of music in existence, except for the even more terrible ones.
It’s like watching endless pick-and-goes, only there might be a chance of something exciting and different happening as a result of those pick-and-goes. A try might be created, or a horrible mistake might occur that leads to an end-to-end score by the opposition.
No chance of anything like that with twelve-bar blues, even as played by expert musicians. It is going to have exactly the same key and rhythm, the same clichéd lyrical and musical tropes, everything completely predictable and boring. The musical ball gets recycled, stuffed up the jumper, and goes again. And again. And again.
It’s also like watching scrums being reset for what feels like hours, but is probably only about three or four minutes. And the same thing happens in every scrum, but the referee just calls for a reset again. And again. And again. A dystopian nightmare.
But rejoice! There is some rugby available to watch in the near future, and hopefully it will be much more exciting than that.

Angus Scott-Young is on for Saints. Sounds like a one man AC/DC tribute act. I’m going to be extremely disappointed if he’s not Scottish qualified…

Ah Charlie Savala is on for Saints – he never quite made it at Edinburgh, the club fly halfs go to kill off their career

Only the 54 points, BB, but it was a really entertaining game

TNT commentators waxing lyrical about Rory this week. Shame they couldn’t see their way to doing the same last week when he was just as good, and in a winning side.
But then they had to keep mentioning all the England players around him, that he made look good.

Bulls beat Benetton inna borefest. 15-17 with the Bulls scoring two tries in the last few minutes to drag themselves over the line. They got through 80 minutes without a red card too!

Looks like Squidge found a stream for the Japan v New Zealand match. And it also sounds like it was a good start for Japan:
Half time score is 10-43 to NZ

Yip, I’m sure the ref was straining for the red card, but managed to resist.

Warriors looking sharp early on. Huw Jones gets away with a dodgy ‘contest’ on Manie Libbok. No score yet after 18 minutes in Stellenbosch.

A 15 minute TMO review sees the Stormers try chalked off and scrum back in the Stormers 22. Pitch not great making scrums a lottery.

George Horn puts up a pinpoint box kick, but unfortunately for him the point of the pin was directly above him and half the Warriors are offside. Stormers to the corner and maul the lineout, can’t get through after several phases and Glasgow clear. Warriors hack it downfield and Cancilierre almost gets through, but penalised for holding on. 32 minutes and still no score!

And finally! The Stormers keep it going through some delightful, if speculative passing, and Willemse scores! But he’s done his hammy in the process. That’s shitty luck, only just back from injury and looking so good. Libbok with the extras! 7-0 five before the break.

Turned the match on and went into the kitchen to start prepping the steak I shall be cooking in a bit, and heard Robson getting very excited about something. Coulda been the not-try, or coulda been the Stormers’ try.

Warriors straight back, with the hooker Matthews storming down the tramlines! Libbok carded for a deliberate knock on and Glasgow set the libeout. And hooker Matthews burrows over for the score! 7-7 as the conversion sails over.

Stellenbosch looks beautiful.
Some of the wine I’ve had from there is pretty darn nice too

Half time and seven apiece. Stormers have lost their two playmakers for now, with Willemse injured and Libbok in the bin. Looks like Matt Fagerson off for Glasgow too.

I could do with a good steak right now! And brussel sprouts. And frites. No sauce, just finished with wagyu fat drizzled through a flambadou. Magic!

Warriors turn it over, chip down the tramlines and Tuipoluto wins the race! Great conversion from the touchline. 7-14 after 50 minutes
Stormers handling has been lousy compared to last week.

Haven’t read it in years, but the movie was awful. Tried it thrice, fell asleep each time.
Stormers score, eventually, after a series of one out carriers and then Libbok floats a pass out wide for du Plessis to score! Libbok converts! 14-all approaching the last quarter.

Oh dear. The pom-pom dancers are back. Why? Dweba wins the turnover penalty. Cue meltdown on SA rugby sites as one of the least liked players does something right!

What a try! But surely forward. The no look pass by Hastings (?) to Tuipoluto sends him straight through and a pop pass sees the winger over. But yes, forward. Stormers scrum inside Warriors half.

I think that one was forward too!

A couple of resets and then the Stormers smash the Glasgow scrum. They’re taking the kick, for the first time today. Can Libbok put them back in front? Wow! Yes! 17-14 but from the restart the Warriors stream back up and has Rowe got it? Pass was dodgy but allowed and so is the try! 17-21 with another stunning conversion!

Glasgow score the BP try! They’re good value for the lead and almost certainly the win. Sharper on attack and better organised on defence. 17-28 as the Stormers blow out to a mild breeze.

Trimble: Libbok was probably Glasgow’s best player today. He just invited them into the game….
